    Making the Global Familiar: Building an International Focus into the Honors Curriculum

    Increasingly, American colleges and universities are seeking to prepare their students not only for professional success but also for life in a world whose interconnectedness and, indeed, interdependency, will require them to live as global citizens. That the term “global citizen,” or one of its many synonyms, now appears in numerous institutional mission and values statements suggests the significance that institutions of higher education attach to cultivating individuals able to navigate the transnational and intercultural complexities of twenty-first-century economics, politics, and ethics. Honors programs and colleges have enthusiastically adopted a global education orientation along with the larger institutions that house them; a quick internet search for “global honors” returns thousands of results, which include global honors programs, specialized pathways, and seminars. Although the prevalence of such global honors options is growing, many honors programs and colleges are still grappling with the challenge of developing honorslevel offerings suited to the internationalizing landscape of higher education. Happily, integrating aspects of global studies into an honors program or college curriculum need not come at a premium. While institutional mandates calling for increased emphasis on the world beyond the campus tend not to be accompanied by across-the-board increases in resources to aid in their implementation, honors programs and colleges can nevertheless reap the benefits of such mandates if they act strategically and in accordance with defined institutional objectives. This article first describes the context in which the University of Nevada, Reno Honors Program has embedded global studies into its curriculum and then provides curricular and co-curricular options that can be adapted and modified to fit the needs of any honors program or college to enhance or deepen students’ global awareness and engagement

Empezaremos explicando el entorno mundial, nacional y las tendencias en el mercado actual. Luego detallaremos el plan de inversión que deseamos desarrollar y el mercado objetivo, además de las estrategias y lo que esperamos lograr a futuro. Señalaremos nuestro plan de distribución que se llevara a cabo en Lima Norte, en el distrito de Independencia dentro del centro comercial Royal plaza. Especificaremos nuestro plan financiero, indicando nuestras proyecciones desarrolladas a diez años. Finalizaremos con las conclusiones y recomendaciones de nuestro proyecto para así lograr un escenario más claro de lo que deseamos demostrar.The next thesis project is the marketing of jeans with larger sizes, whatever it may be in the district of independence. Begin to explain the national and global environment and trends in the current market. Next, we will detail the investment plan we wish to develop and the target market, as well as the strategies and what we hope to achieve in the future. We are going to outline our distribution plan that takes place in Lima Norte, in the district of Independencia, inside the Plaza Real shopping center. We will specify our financial plan, indicating our projections developed to ten years.     Abstract Contract Synthesis and Verification in the Symbolic K Framework

    [EN] In this article, we propose a symbolic technique that can be used for automatically inferring software contracts from programs that are written in a non-trivial fragment of C, called KERNELC, that supports pointer-based structures and heap manipulation. Starting from the semantic definition of KERNELC in the K semantic framework, we enrich the symbolic execution facilities recently provided by K with novel capabilities for contract synthesis that are based on abstract subsumption. Roughly speaking, we define an abstract symbolic technique that axiomatically explains the execution of any (modifier) C function by using other (observer) routines in the same program. We implemented our technique in the automated tool KINDSPEC 2.1, which generates logical axioms that express pre- and post-condition assertions which define the precise input/output behavior of the C routines.     Versatility and the 21st Century Percussionist: Late 20th and 21st Century Works for Classical Percussion, Drum Set, and World Percussion

    Twenty-first century percussionists must be able to perform in all three major areas of percussion: concert percussion, drum set, and world percussion. Regardless of a performer's ultimate aspirations, the ability to work in all areas is essential to building a successful professional career. This trend is apparent in academia as well. University teaching positions routinely attract 100 or so applicants for even entry-level jobs, and often require a variety of skills. Knowledge and performance ability in all three of these areas are therefore requirements for a stable career as either a performing or teaching percussionist. This project will explore the depth and breadth of works written for all areas of modern percussion, and will present both newly-composed and standard works that use a variety of classical, jazz and world percussion techniques. The works studied and performed will comprise a "core curriculum" that all modern percussionists should be able to perform. This project will also serve as a pedagogical model. Curricula at major institutions recognize that undergraduate students should be exposed to all areas of percussion, but these schools typically parcel the teaching out to multiple faculty "specialists." It is my goal to become part of a "new generation" of percussion teacher who can teach in all areas. My ability to perform and teach in all three of these areas is therefore of fundamental importance. This project will help to develop both a repertoire for study and to showcase a clear model for the "next-generation" percussion teacher and student by presenting three public recitals in which these areas will be highlighted and explored. The first recital focused on concert percussion and included works for snare drum, mallet percussion, and timpani. The second recital was comprised of works for drum set in both solo and chamber settings in both classical and jazz idioms. The final recital consisted of composed and improvised works for Latin American, African, and Caribbean world percussion instruments in both solo and chamber settings. This completed project has demonstrated the model of a comprehensively-trained modern percussionist. It showcases the techniques and skills utilized by the 21st century professional percussionist.
